Patanjali supposedly compiled words of wisdom around 2000 years ago in a treatise called Yoga Sutra, which even now remains the guidebook of classical, or raja (royal), yoga. It has 195 aphorisms (sutras), or words of wisdom. He also compiled a dictionary and grammar rules, as well as a book on medicine (Ayurveda). It’s possible that there were many people who contributed to this work.
