The album Ardaas was released by RPG in 1997. It took Shivpreet around4 years to get this album together because he composed and played all the music through, what was a little used and known technology then -- MIDI. Tabla was played by Surinder Singh Mann, a disciple of the great Tabla maestro Allah Rakha.
The first shabad, set in Roopak, a 7-beat rhythm, is Prabh paas jan ki ardaas, or "A disciple's Prayer", thus the name of the album. The second shabad takes the first eight lines from Guru Arjan's masterpiece "Sukhmani" and is set in a meditative mood. Thethird shabad, also from Sukhmani,"Chaar Padarath Jenko Maange" useselements of Indian classical music and is set in Raag Kalyan as well as Gauri.
